We release a customized "inexpensive and controllable Hi-C (iconHi-C)" protocol in which the optimization factors revealed by our benchmarking have been incorporated, as well as the resultant chromosome-scale genome assembly of the Chinese softshell turtle Pelodiscus sinensis.</rdfs:comment>
